Please join the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Marathon Team in the 37th Annual Marine Corps Marathon. We are currently registering individual runners and teams which will guarantee your place in the 2012 Marine Corps Marathon. Public registration for the race begins on March 7th and it sells out within a few days. Our team has reserved 125 full marathon slots for so we invite you to us to confirm your spot in the race. If you are already registered for the marathon, or are running in the 10K race, you can still join our Scholarship Foundation Marathon Team to help raise critically needed funds for children of Marines.
This year, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is celebrating our 50th Anniversary of providing college scholarships to deserving sons and daughters of Marines with particular attention being given to children whose parent was killed or wounded in action. We are proud of our long history and commitment – having awarded over 27,000 scholarships valued at $67 million, including almost $5 million to 1,636 scholarship recipients in the 2011-2012 academic year. You will receive the following when you join the Scholarship Foundation Marathon Team:
* A personalized fundraising website that you can operate very easily with direct support from the Foundation staff. You can also add your own photo and personal note for your friends and family to view;
* Ability to monitor your contributions online and add cash or checks to your contribution total;
* Automatic tax receipts and thank you notes sent to your donors via e-mail; and
* Sample contribution letters that can be personalized to help ask your friends and family for their support
* Scholarship Foundation Gifts for Race Day, including a team shirt
* Invitation for you and a guest to attend our Team Dinner on Saturday, October 27th
To become a member of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Marathon Team, all we ask of you is to pledge and raise a minimum fundraising goal of $500 to help support the great children of our military heroes. The average family income of the scholarship recipients in 2011 was $49,000 and your support will directly impact these deserving Marine families. Joining the Scholarship Foundation Team will help us provide much-needed scholarships to the sons and daughters of Marines and Navy Corpsmen serving with Marines who are protecting our country, as well as those who have come before them.
Although our organization is based in the Washington, DC area, you do not need to live here to join the marathon team. Most of our past team members have traveled from across the United States.
You can join as an individual runner or as a team. We also invite corporations and business to put teams together to build office camaraderie.
